The great Giuseppe Quintarelli has transformed Valpolicella into a world-class wine. With Quintarelli’s strict grape selection, this Valpolicella spent seven years in Slavonian botti before bottling, a protocol unheard of in the region but one the estate maintains to create nuanced and structured, complex Valpolicella with some appropriate maturity. The 2004 Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a gorgeous wine. A wild, deeply expressive bouquet laced with sweet grilled herbs, tobacco, menthol, licorice and savory herbs meld into layers of expressive dark fruit. The style is classic Quintarelli, with so much character and pure personality. This is a beautiful vintage for the Valpolicella.
