Le Potazzine Rosso di Mont

Overview

Country/State: Italy
Region: Tuscany, Montalcino
Varietal: Sangiovese

This outstanding Montalcino producer consistently modernizes their practices while adhering to Italian winemaking traditions.  The Wine Advocate has this to say about their 2010 Rosso di Montalcino, "The 2010 Rosso di Montalcino is striking in this vintage. Clean veins of minerality support an expressive core of vibrant dark cherries, violets, licorice and spices. This is a fabulous Rosso from Potazzine imbued with notable character and sheer personality. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.

Giuseppe and Gigliola Gorelli run this small property. Both Brunelli are made with indigenous yeasts and are aged in cask. At their best, the wines show lovely transparency. The Gorellis also own a restaurant in the center of town where I had two delicious lunches on my most recent stay in Montalcino."
