Burn Cottage Moonlight Race PN

Overview

Burn Cottage comes to your glass all the way from Central Otago on the South Island of New Zealand.  Central Otago is the most southerly wine growing region in the world.  The story of this bottle starts in the United States.  Burn Cottage is owned by the Sauvage family.  Marquis Sauvage grew up in Kansas, moved to CO and opened a wine bar.  He eventually developed a passion for Pinot Noir and Central Otago.  The Moonlight Race comprises three sites that Burn Cottage farms themselves: Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn, and Sauvage Vineyard in Bannockburn, along with the Luna vineyard in Bannockburn.  This creates an excellent bottle of Pinot Noir that is so much different from our Oregon and California Pinot Noirs.

Tasting Notes

Bright cherry and plum notes complement spice, pepper and savoury earthy complexity. Layered and expressive, there is a core of supple fruit and fine textural tannins extending through the palate. Whilst approachable now, expected cellaring potential is up to 7 years.
